A Chicago native, Adam Baldwin plays self-interested mercenary Jayne Cobb in "Firefly."

He began his professional career playing the title role in the feature film "My Bodyguard." This brought him to the attention of Robert Redford, who cast him in the Academy Award-winning "Ordinary People." His other film roles include "The Patriot," "Independence Day," "Wyatt Earp," "Radio Flyer" and "Full Metal Jacket."

On television, he had a recurring role on "The X-Files." His recent credits include "Day Break," "Chuck," "Bones" and "Talk to Me." He appeared as Mike Rogo in the television movie remake of "The Poseidon Adventure."

His other credits include roles on "The Inside," "Justice League," "Jackie Chan Adventures," "Angel," "Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" and "Stargate SG-1."

He also appeared in "Serenity," the theatrical sequel to the ‘Firefly" series.
