Sean Maher plays Serenity's medical officer, Dr. Simon Tam, in "Firefly."

He studied acting at several schools, including New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and later at the Tisch School of the Arts in London.

Maher's television credits include the lead role in "Ryan Caulfield: Year One." He also appeared in "Party of Five," "The $treet," and "CSI: Miami." He had a starring role in the television remake of "Brian's Song." More recently, he acted in the television movie "Wedding Wars" and appeared in the feature film "Living ‘til the End."

He reprised his role as Dr. Simon Tam in the theatrical sequel to "Firefly," Joss Whedon's "Serenity."
