Summer Glau plays the psychic but unpredictable River Tam in "Firefly."

Her first association with the Joss Whedon universe began with an appearance on the television show "Angel." She played a prima ballerina—the perfect role for her, as she’s a trained ballerina in real life.

Her recent television credits include "The 4400" and "The Unit." She also appeared in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Cold Case."

She reprised her role as River Tam in the feature film "Serenity."
